So, you want a new phone but don’t know which one to get? When you’re doing research on new phones, it’s smart to seek out the best possible phone for you depending on what’s important to you. So, “best cellphone’ will mean different things depending on who you ask.
BlackBerry phones are everywhere these days – they are ruling the smartphone market for sure. Very few phones equal the popularity of the BlackBerry phones – not even the iPhone. Sure, everyone and their cat these days has an iPhone, or wants one, but the iPhone really isn’t that good as a PDA. For one, it lacks a proper keyboard, and everything on it is proprietary – you can’t really customize it that much.
When shopping for a new cellphone, you need to be sure that you’re getting the best phone for your money. What the best phone for you is depends on what you need it to do.
It could be the phone with the most features (which is generally the most expensive as well), or it could also be the prettiest phone, or it could be the most value for money phone that doesn’t do a whole lot but that is pretty cheap compared to other phones.
But generally, in most people’s minds, the “best buy” would mean a phone which provides the most features for the least money. Pretty much any phone could count as a “best buy” if it gives you what you want for a reasonable amount of money. So when you’re doing your reasearch, here are a few things to keep in mind:
The Design: You’ll often find that the cheaper phones also have uglier designs. They are also generally larger and bulkier. It depends though, sometimes a phone will be bigger because it needs to be, for example, to fit a full-sized QWERTY keyboard on it. Generally though, smaller means more expensive and better. A quality phone will look good, even at a good price.
Features: This depends on what price range you’re looking at, so you might not have all the features that are available in the market. But as a minimum you should try to look for good sound quality if you intend to phone people a lot, a good quality screen so you can see pictures people send you and see what you’re typing when you’re texting people. It should be able to forward messages, record the number of calls and messages received, it should be able to put calls on hold, use the internet, and a good quality keypad if you type a lot.
Screen Size of cellphone – The screen should be of adequate size for you to read phone numbers and text messages easily. Most cheaper or inferior phones often have smaller or lesser quality screens.
Communication with computers: Things like Bluetooth and USB connectivity are important if you plan on transferring a lot of files and information to and from your computer or laptop, so keep that in mind as well. It’s also useful for if you plan to use your phone as a 3G modem to provide internet for your computer or laptop while travelling.
Reception of cell phone – Good quality cellphones have good quality reception. This enables you to hear clearly when speaking with people, and also helps if you’re using the internet. If you have inferior reception on your phone, you may need a booster antenna.
So, when looking for a new phone, be sure not to compromise too much or you may end up wanting a new phone again sooner than you think. The best phone for you is whichever phone fulfils all your requirements and also provides good value for money. Don’t settle for less if you don’t have to – there are plenty of phone models out there, and you can more than likely find the perfect one for you somewhere among them.
