Yahoo does not support the IMAP protocol. For pop-forwarding you need mail plus which is 19.99$ a year.

Due to increase in traffic the mail server addresses were changed not too long ago to:

Incoming Mail Server (POP3): plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com

E-mail Address – Imap or Pop?

-

Question by Harris: E-mail Address – Imap or Pop?
Hi Guys,

I have an e-mail address linked to my own website ( blahblahblah@mywebsite.com) and I need to access this on my blackberry and on 2 computers, office and home. Should I register the servers as imap or pop, or a mixture? I want to be able to access all messages from everywhere. So if I delete a message on my blackberry, it’s also deleted on comps etc. Thanks

being totally new at sixty on the computer and learning things as they ‘fly’ by me so fast, I was looking for the answer to my first question I asked yesterday which was “how can I use Incredimail If my free server is yahoo”, I was just told I couldn’t, yahoo doesn’t support POP/IMAP? But get a g-mail account from goggle, I guess they do POP/IMAP and it’s free, I think it’s a ‘protocol thing. That was the ‘eye catcher’ for my stopping at your question and I’ll also be looking forward to read your in-coming answers with interest. I’m on my way to ask my second question which is; do I have to give up my yahoo mailer to have g-mail with google? Oh, and the second thing that attracted me to your question was that ‘ blahblahblah’ is my given middle name! Given to me by my husband since I gave up my letter typing on a old (as I am) typewriter that went ‘ding’ after every sentence. That’s why my given ‘user account’ name is DebbieDing! Among a few other ‘dingy’ reasons.Ha.Good luck with your answers, I’ll be watching….

For yahoo mail you need upgrade to yahoo mail plus (@ .99 per year).to get the full pop3 service for access to Outlook,Incredimail, Thunderbird and others.
For more info on setting up your pop3 account see the link below.

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/classic/mailplus/pop/pop-35.html

* Incoming Mail Server (POP3): plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com
Use SSL, port: 995
* Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Use SSL, port: 465, use authentication.

There is a free program called “YPOPS” it’s not approved by yahoo and is not fully compatible some users can get it to work but most can’t.

If you have “yahoo.co.uk” address some users can get free pop forwarding see below.
Click “options” (top right) on your mail page>mail options>pop and forwarding>
Set up or edit pop & forwarding>type in the address you want to forward to and
click save.
* Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk
Use SSL, port: 995
* Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smpt.mail.yahoo.co.uk
Use SSL, port: 465.

Note: In order to be able to send emails from outlook and others through/to yahoo (pop3) you need to pay for a yahoo mail plus account. @ £11.99 per year.
