Question by Stephen B: Imap offline?
I was wondering if Imap syncs the mail account once you connect. If i am online and outlook caches the mailbox then I go offline with the computer and add something to the calendar or write a new email and then redial the internet will the server overide everything i did or will they sync together?

Yahoo mail vs Gmail and imap?

Question by Steve: Yahoo mail vs Gmail and imap?
So, now that gmail supports imap (for free), why should I bother keeping a yahoo mail address (beyond the pain in the butt it would be to notify everybody of my new email address)?

Well, I can’t figure that one out. I corresponded with Yahoo! support over a month ago about free IMAP support.

Best reason to have IMAP is when in a location where no Internet service is available. You can write messages off line and read messages retrieved earlier.

Yahoo! was forwarding it to executive board for consideration ie to provide free IMAP service.

Not heard a word. Only problem I have is the pain in the butt to get all the emails forwarded to GMail or my old ATT accounts (which offer IMAP) and keep them sorted into all the folders.

From my perspective Yahoo! has Yahooed! themselves out of time.

I am making the painfully slow switch to ATT. Maybe Gmail too after I find out how difficult it is to move from them and if it is as easy as moving to them.

my account pop3 and imap address?

Question by RANDY S: my account pop3 and imap address?
my pop3 and imap address

Answer by echinopsis
Yahoo does not support the IMAP protocol. For pop-forwarding you need mail plus which is 19.99$ a year.

Due to increase in traffic the mail server addresses were changed not too long ago to:

Incoming Mail Server (POP3): plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com

Need help with free Yahoo IMAP email.?

Question by kehicks197: Need help with free Yahoo IMAP email.?
I set it up my cell phone for Yahoo! IMAP email but now whenever I try to send/receive it, it tries to connect, log on and then brings up and annoying incoming password screen where password is already saved, and a loop starts doing these things again and again.

I get this too whenever I set it up on my phone. It’s weird, sounds like they are blocking us after the fact. My guess is that they aren’t supporting it but aren’t turning the service off and they run a script or something daily to block the users that used the service. ????
