I’m just wondering… Couldn’t you just buy a smartphone with the required minimum data plan, and then cancel the plan later in order to keep the phone (and the things you want–calling and texting, no Internet).

Or, do phone companies (mine is AT&T) lock you into the data plan for the entire 2-year period?

And does anyone else notice that all the nicer phones require Internet, but if you don’t want the data plan you’re kinda stuck with not-so-nice ones?

as long as you continue to use a smartphone, then they will charge you the attached data fees. you could change your contract only if you switch away from a smartphone to a feature (normal) phone

Question by Justasking: How do I reactivate my iPhone and add to a family plan?
I still have my original iPhone, but cancelled it’s service when I switched to a go-phone. Long story short I lost my go-phone and would like to re-activate my old iPhone.

Is it possible to reactivate it and add it to someone else’s family plan? If so, how do I accomplish this?

I currently have an iphone plan with around 1000 minutes, unlimited texting and unlimited data.

I am buying the 4g when it comes out and giving my friend my old iphone 3g.

I want to add my friend with iphone to my plan with unlimited data and texting. About how much more a month would my plan be?

I have an iPhone 3 and my data plan doesn’t end till August 2012. I really want an iPhone 4 so i can get the iSO 5 upgrade. So, I was wondering could I just buy a 4 without buying a data plan because I already have one for my 3 and just put all my information on the 4. Or will I just have to wait till August 2012?

If you have ATT, all you should have to do is take out your simcard and put it into the new phone. You MUST have a data plan for any iphone. Call your provider and ask them.

I already have a phone, but I just want to use some of the cool apps you can buy for the iPhone. Is it possible to just buy the iPhone and nothing else, and use it for apps?
Some of the apps don’t work for a touch.
