I’ve heard Pop3 access is now a paid service only, so the settings wont help you. You can give it a go though I guess:

pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk

smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk

Works for me, but I signed up before it changed.

keep trying with what I think is the right settings, but keep getting a request for the password for smtp …. I enter the password and then it rejected

For yahoo mail you have two options if you are using
yahoo email you can upgrade to yahoo mail plus to get
the full pop3 service for access to
Outlook,
Thunderbird,
Incredimail, and others

Question by Luc: I have a problem to send smtp mail with lotus notes.?
I have the following error message:

smpt protocol returned a permanent error:503

I’m using Lotus Notes 7.02, client, without a Domino server.

I’ve had the same problem and think I solved it after a few attempts. Here are the parametres I used in the account configuration:

server name: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
user id: my yahoo id (without the @yahoo.com)
password: my yahoo password
protocol: smpt
SSL: disabled

I had to disable SSL (despite what it’s said in yahoo tutorials http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/mailplus/pop/pop-14.html ), because I think lotus notes doesn’t support the SSL protocol and ciphers used by yahoo. Can someone eventually confirm this suspect I have?

Of course you must have a yahoo mail plus account on yahoo in order to give your yahoo mail SMTP capabilities, otherwise you should check for third party programs such as Ypops’.
